Why go there?

Within the Crow Indian Reservation in south-central Montana, 40 minutes south of Billings, lies a day-use park preserving Chief Plenty Coups' log home, sacred spring, and farmstead. This National Historic Landmark belonged to Plenty Coups (Aleek-chea-ahoosh, meaning "many achievements"), a man who transitioned from a warrior to a peacemaker, bridging the gap between cultures. Honored for his bravery and leadership, he became chief of the Apsáalooke (Crow) tribe at just 28. The park covers 195 acres of his land and features a Visitor Center commemorating his life and efforts to lead his people towards settled reservation living. Walk the 3/4 mile trail and enjoy the shaded picnic area.
