Lava Beds National Monument is a place of both geological and historical significance. Over the past 500,000 years, volcanic eruptions from the Medicine Lake shield volcano have sculpted a rugged terrain filled with diverse volcanic features. Visitors can explore over 800 caves, discover Native American rock art sites, visit historic battlefields and campsites, and enjoy a high desert wilderness adventure.
