The Manhattan Project National Historical Park consists of three units: one in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, one in Los Alamos, New Mexico, and one in Hanford, Washington. It is jointly managed by the Department of Energy and the National Park Service. The sites commemorate the people, events, and places associated with the development of the atomic bomb during World War II. The Los Alamos National Laboratory Historic Site interprets the history of the laboratory from its establishment in 1943 to the present day. The Manhattan Project National Historical Park – Great Falls Annex commemorates the construction of the Advanced Physics Laboratory at Princeton University which was responsible for developing the atomic bomb. The Manhattan Project National Historical Park – Oak Ridge Reservation commemorates the history of uranium enrichment at the Y-12 National Security Complex and the K-25 Virtual Museum.
