Why go there?
The Battle of Pea Ridge was a turning point in the Civil War, and the 4,300 acre battlefield is now a memorial to those who fought and died there. The battle was fought on March 7-8, 1862, and over 23,000 soldiers participated. It was the largest Civil War battle west of the Mississippi River and one of the most intact Civil War battlefields in the United States.
