Why go there?
The River Raisin National Battlefield Park is the only national battlefield that marks a site of the War of 1812. The battlefield park preserves the site of the Battle of Frenchtown, which was a three-day battle that took place in and surrounding the Frenchtown Settlement. The area of conflict extended seven miles upstream on the River Raisin from its confluence with Lake Erie and about two miles inland from its south bank. The battlefield park is located within the present-day city limits of Monroe.
