Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests, covering vast expanses of Colorado's Rocky Mountains, merge to form a wilderness paradise. Arapaho's 1.5 million acres and Roosevelt's 800,000 acres boast stunning landscapes of towering peaks, dense forests, and meandering rivers. Located on the historic lands of several Native American tribes, including the Arapaho, Cheyenne, Ute, and others, they are home to diverse wildlife, including elk and bighorn sheep. Visitors can explore scenic trails like the Continental Divide Trail and enjoy unparalleled opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing, and skiing.

Thanks to the dedication of our partners and community, seven years after the Eagle Creek Fire over 90% of trails in the Gorge have been reopened.

The Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area is a breathtaking landscape in the Pacific Northwest, renowned for its stunning vistas, waterfalls, and diverse ecosystems. Stretching over 80 miles along the Columbia River, it boasts towering cliffs, lush forests, and dramatic canyons. Outdoor enthusiasts flock here for hiking, windsurfing, and wildlife watching. Historic sites like Multnomah Falls and the Bonneville Lock and Dam add cultural richness to this natural wonder, making it a must-visit destination.

Reopening trails in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area

The Trailhead Steward Program offers visitors valuable info on parking, safety, and alternative options to popular spots.

A stunning landscape in three parts, stretching across New Hampshire and dipping into Maine, the White Mountain National Forest is a brilliant example of how nature can recover from centuries of abuse and become a recreational paradise. The forest was established in 1918, partly due to public anger over uncontrolled logging and fires. Today it covers nearly 800,000 acres of pristine hardwood forests, gorgeous mountain lakes and scenic views. You can dip into a swimming hole, try rock climbing or take a ride on the Mount Washington Cog Railway to the tallest peak in New England. Fun fact: while drone flying is strictly forbidden in national parks, you can get your aerials on here - just make sure to check out the rules at the US Forest Service site to avoid landing in protected areas.

Navigate White Mountain NF with the Trailhead Steward Program

The NFF & Bronco Wild Fund celebrate the Highline Hold'em Mountain Bike Poker Run. All the proceeds go to the Highline Trail Restoration Initiative.

Just 30 minutes from Phoenix, Arizona, the Tonto National Forest ranges  across 600,000 acres of varied landscapes and attracts 3 million visitors a year. Its iconic resident is the giant Sonoran Desert cactus, but if you're not a plant fan there's no reason to get prickly. You can go kayaking, jet-skiing and even scuba diving in Canyon Lake, or visit Goldfield Ghost Town and plunge into the Wild West. It's also a wonderful destination for camping or RV trips. Then as the sun dips low, get your camera gear out and head to Tonto National Monument, a designated dark-sky park, for spectacular star-gazing.
